Those feature updates were designed to be delivered through Windows Update and are, for all intents and purposes, full Windows version upgrades. Microsoft dialed back that schedule with the launch of Windows 11, committing to delivering these sometimes-disruptive feature updates only once each year, in the second half of the year. (That decision was also applied retroactively to Windows 10.) Reasonable people might have assumed that the schedule change meant Microsoft was thereby committing to not delivering any new features outside of those annual end-of-year feature updates....

After a long public test cycle in the Windows Insider Program, with Release Preview candidates available for more than three months, the 2022 Update contains no surprises. According to research by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the number of screen-sharing scams has almost doubled over the course of a year – and almost half of investors wouldn’t be able to identify that they’re being duped by one. A study by IBM concluded that the UK is falling behind its European neighbours in AI adoption, with employers blaming a lack of skills in areas like software engineering, problem solving, and knowledge of programming languages. A survey of 7,500 business leaders by IBM found that about a third of UK respondents said their company had accelerated their rollout of AI during the past two years, compared with a European average of 49%....

After rumors circulated last week about Lufthansa’s ban on AirTags, the airline confirmed in a tweet it was “banning activated AirTags from luggage as they are classified as dangerous and need to be turned off”. AirTags can’t be turned off with a switch. The only way to do it is by removing the battery, which defeats the purpose of AirTags and similar low-power bluetooth trackers used for tracking items. Also: They both used Apple AirTags to track their possessions....
