The Cupertino, Calif.-based giant’s latest security patch round was issued on Monday, MacOS Big Sur 11.3. One of the most notable fixes is for a vulnerability found by Cedric Owens. Tracked as CVE-2021–30657, the vulnerability allows attackers to bypass Gatekeeper, Apple’s built-in protection mechanism for code signing and verification. In a Medium blog post, Owens describes how threat actors could “easily craft” a MacOS payload that is not checked by Gatekeeper....

In beta four, Apple made some key changes to the new edit and delete feature in its Messages app. When Apple first unveiled the ability to edit sent messages, users had 15 minutes to make changes. The message would be marked as edited, but there wasn’t a change log to reveal the edits. Some feared the lack of an edit log could lead to the feature being abused by someone taking screenshots of a conversation thread....

The S7 Apple Silicon chip shares the same t8301 identifier and quoted performance as the S6 chip, and the Series 7 contains no new sensor hardware.
